Cinema in Berlin

Yes, yes: In former times it was called Cinema still Lichtspiel- or Filmtheater! And quite earlier (19th century) it was mainly on fairs established panoptics and show bundles. The so-called cinematographs are a French invention and were devices for recording movements.
The first commercial film in the world was made before 1900. Where? Where? Of course in Berlin - in the legendary Wintergarten! The Golden Twenties saw the construction of cinema palaces all over the world whose architecture and furnishings were modelled on the famous and popular large opera houses and concert halls. Especially in the USA this trend was driven forward and within a few years the sound film replaced the silent film. With the introduction and distribution of television, the death of cinemas began, which was largely stopped by the massive construction of so-called multiplex cinemas, and since the 1980s there has been a cinema renaissance.
The special offerings and equipment of cinemas are constantly oriented to the needs of visitors. Architecturally appealing buildings such as old industrial buildings or hypermodern complexes offer comprehensive service: from ticket reservations, cinema days, bars and sales counters to longer running times for films, early and night shows, extra wide seats and large row spacing and even free offers such as a glass of champagne for an afternoon performance or the combination of cinema with dinner or lunch.
