Turkish food in Berlin

Of course, Turkish cuisine offers much more than kebab and falafel, because it is one of the most versatile in the world! Already in the times of the Ottoman Empire the offer of food was extraordinarily varied due to Persian, Arabic and Indian influences. The Turk usually dines at noon only in a börekci a small thing like pasta or hearty puff pastry dishes. In the evening you will have a good dinner in a good restaurant or a simple lokanda generous. You start with a selection of different appetizers from the glass display case, which are put together individually and called Mezeler in Turkish. The main courses consist of fish, game or meat - Attention: for religious reasons no pork is offered! It is served with cooked vegetables. The most popular dessert is baklava, a puff pastry filled with nut or pistachio paste and finally covered with honey syrup!
Since the Turks in Berlin are not only the largest group of immigrants in terms of numbers, but also the largest group from an ethnic point of view, it is not surprising that there is a dense network of Turkish restaurants in the city. These range from the simple snack without seating over the better equipped kebab shop with seating, the numerous lokanda to the upscale restauran with the finest and creative Turkish cuisine!
There is no problem for every occasion and every taste in Berlin to find the right location for a traditional Turkish evening!
