Mexican food in Berlin

Mexico is colorful and varied just like its cuisine! This is rich and varied in ingredients, varied in preparation and grandiose in the number of recipes. The Mexican cuisine is based on two basic pillars: the traditional Aztec food culture and later Spanish influences introduced by the conquerors from Europe.
What their rice is to the Asians is their corn to the Mexicans. Flat corn flat cakes (tortillas) are already served for breakfast. Rolling as taco and stuffed with meat and beans or as tostada and not rolled, the flat cakes are very popular. Maize is also an indispensable ingredient in other dishes. For example with Pozole, a corn stew with pork or the popular appetizers with a hearty or sweet filling, the Tamales.
Beans play an important role in the main courses. Mexicans love to eat frijoles, small beans or red beans, pumpkin, avocado and tomatoes. Cattle, sheep, goats, pigs and chickens are available as meat in Mexican cuisine. The Mexican national dish Mole Poblano is originally a turkey - today increasingly a chicken - that is regularly sprinkled with a seasoned sauce of chilli and chocolate during the roasting process. Very popular is guacamole (avocado dip), which is eaten with tortilla chips to meat. A real feast for the palate is called Ceviche: finely chopped raw fish marinated in lime juice and then served with (red) onion rings.
Unfortunately, it is an erroneous assumption that Chili con Carne comes from Mexico. The famous bean minced meat pot originally comes from Texas. Just like the Tex-Mex term does not describe Mexican cuisine, but the Texan cuisine, which is given a Mexican touch by immigrants.
But that doesn't deter you from ordering chili con carne the next time you visit a Mexican restaurant!
