Concerts in Berlin

Berlin has more opera houses and concert halls than almost any other European metropolis. You probably know the Deutsche Oper, the (Schauspiel) Konzerthaus, the Komische Oper, the Staatsoper (currently in the Schiller Theater - otherwise Unter den Linden) and the Philharmonie. Perhaps you also know the Berlin Chamber Orchestra and the German Symphony Orchestra - both with different venues in Berlin? In addition to this above-average offer, there are now various concert organisers with temporary concertsen and changing stages. Their repertoire ranges from Italian opera to gospel, klemzer and the Don Cossacks. You will also experience the great concert events of the summer in a historical and impressive atmosphere at open air performances.
The roots of the Classical Concerts lie in Paris and London, at that time reserved for the middle-class, aristocratic and courtly society and were mostly highlights of social life.
With the change in political conditions at the beginning of the 20th century, the exclusively middle-class significance of the Classical Concerts also began to waver. The general public should also be offered access to concert art, and so folk concerts, spa concerts or open-air concerts developed alongside folk theatres - usually on Sunday mornings. Today, of course, the concert program also includes jazz, club and other special concert performances.
You see, the range of concerts is huge, the selection is not quite easy - and you are spoilt for choice.
