The story is turbulent: An old sourpuss wants to marry his ward in order to gain his considerable inheritance, and takes every precaution possible to block Rosina's path to the outside world - and thus to possible young lovers.
However, Count Almaviva has long since discovered his love for her. With the help of the busy barber Figaro, he wants to cheat the old man, win Rosina over and make sure that not his title or wealth, but love alone leads the young woman into his arms. No easy task for Figaro, because even the opponents spare no effort ... In the end love wins, and it turns out that all caution was useless!

On November 7, 1912, the Deutsches Opernhaus was inaugurated with FIDELIO and, in the following decades, served as a stage especially for Puccini's and Wagner's works. The house has remained faithful to the democratic ideal of a citizen opera after its destruction in World War II: Fritz Bornemann's new building, opened in 1961, is intended as a framework for a modern music theatre, which can be experienced from all seats as a total work of art.
