"Mozart Requiem for Bach's Death" - in the Philharmonie - conductor: Heribert Breuer!

The performance of the Mozart Requiem by the Berlin Bach Academy unites the last works of Bach, Mozart and Brahms in a special program constellation.

The concert begins with Bach's cantata BWV 106 "Gottes Zeit ist die allerbeste Zeit", the so-called "Actus tragicus", which Heribert Breuer arranged for the orchestration of the Mozart Requiem. Breuer has arranged the following chorale preludes by Johannes Brahms for a string orchestra divided into several parts.

In the second part of the concerto, the last Contrapunctus XIV from the "Art of the Fugue" sounds in the Breuer's orchestral version as an overture to Mozart's Requiem: the mass for the dead answers directly to the unfinished fugue.

An illustrious quartet of soloists could be put together under Heribert Breuer's direction: first and foremost the renowned soprano Sibylla Rubens, who is playing with the Berlin Bach Academy for the first time. The ensemble is complemented by the long-time comrades-in-arms Britta Schwarz, André Khamasmie & Klaus Häger.
