Visit the Berlin premiere of "JULI" by Iwan Wyrypajew!

On a day in July, the lost month of idleness, Pjotr, 63, wakes up in the central Russian wasteland and sees how the fire melts his house and his mind. Pjotr begins his journey to the nearest town by killing his neighbour, then killing a homeless man and the priest of the monastery where he finds shelter. When he is finally put into a closed institution, he believes that the nurse recognizes his childhood love. In a nightmarish frenzy he strangles and eats them.

The play by the Russian author Ivan Wyrypajew is neither the psychogram of a serial killer nor that of a depended person from the province, but the relentless inner view of an eternally young and indestructible autocrat raging with greed - without power and possession, without consideration for victims.
