"The Corsair" is a daring, romantic fairy tale about pirates, slaves and oriental intrigues. Konrad and his pirate crew shipwreck and are washed up on the Greek coast. There they are targeted by a criminal slave trader. The Greek Medora, who is about to be sold in the harem of Said Pasha, is kidnapped from Konrad to his pirate island with other slaves. There it comes to an argument among the corsairs, since Medora asks to release all slaves.

Konrad's competitor Birbanto succeeds in extraditing Medora to the Pasha. Now Konrad has to resort to a trick to win Medora for good.

The premiere of the full-length ballet "Le Corsaire" was shown by the dancers of the Staatliche Ballettschule at the Staatsoper in Berlin's Schillertheater. The young dancers prove that they cultivate and preserve the classical-academic heritage and at the same time dare to face the challenges of contemporary choreography.
