Current artistic positions at the interface of theatre, dance and performance

The HAU Hebbel am Ufer in Berlin-Kreuzberg with its three stages - HAU1, HAU2 and HAU3 - is under the artistic direction of Annemie Vanackere since November 2012. The programme includes international guest performances, performances by the Berlin and (inter-)national dance scene as well as innovative theatre projects, some of which are also developed and rehearsed here.

The artistic team led by Annemie Vanackere is looking for forms and ways of speaking in which a radically changing order of social and world-political conditions can be expressed in an advanced artistic way.

Many directors and choreographers have started their international careers from here. Conversely, many international artists found their way into the Berlin scene through HAU.

The HAU was voted "Theater of the Year" in a survey of critics in 2004 and 2012 and was awarded the "Design Prize of the Federal Republic of Germany" for its corporate design in 2007.
