Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart - Great opera in two acts - Libretto by Emanuel Schikaneder!
Mozart's ZAUBERFLÖTE, the most frequently performed opera in the German-speaking world, the multi-layered masterpiece in an unusual mixture of Viennese folk theatre and Freemasonry mystery, fairy tales and myths, is still a mystery to us today: Did Mozart and his librettist Schikaneder change sides in the middle of the work between the Queen of the Night and Sarastro? Isn't it appropriate to distrust the overly ideal world of priests and its ideology, which divides the world into good and evil? Are there not even traces of a distance between text and music, as some Mozart specialists suspect?
At the same time, it is music that elevates the contradictions of action to a worldly level. She does not denounce her figures, but lends her conflicts an existential dimension. Without it the opera would sound like an irrational fairy tale.

Info: Deutsche Oper Berlin
On November 7, 1912, the Deutsches Opernhaus was inaugurated with FIDELIO and, in the following decades, served as a stage especially for Puccini's and Wagner's works. The house has remained faithful to the democratic ideal of a citizen opera after its destruction in World War II: Fritz Bornemann's new building, opened in 1961, is intended as a framework for a modern music theatre, which can be experienced from all seats as a total work of art.
