Info: ASG Fort Hahneberg e.V.

The purpose of Fort Hahneberg was to protect Spandau, which until 1920 was independent of Berlin and the largest armoury of the German Reich. It was necessary to completely withdraw the important armament factories from enemy artillery fire, which had a maximum range of up to 10 km. To achieve this, cities were surrounded by a closed belt of 10 to 12 forts that would have kept an attacker at a distance.
