In contrast to its author, Anne Frank's red and white checkered diary miraculously survived the Holocaust and has become one of the most important and best-known objects of remembrance. The texts offer intense insights into an adolescence in an extreme state: written in hiding in the Secret Annex, they simultaneously reflect on adolescent questions about family, falling in love, loneliness and the search for one's own identity as well as anti-Semitism, persecution and murder under National Socialism.
