A play for children aged 3-6, freely adapted from Anne Herbauts.

The picture book "What does the moon in the night?" by Anne Herbauts fascinated us with its poetic - whimsical images. And so we decided to transform it for puppet theater. The story is a sequence of small scenes about nocturnal moods: During the day, the moon sleeps. But what does it do at night? When the sun goes down, the moon wakes up. As soon as he is awake, he paints the stars in the sky. Then he drives the noise out of the cities. When the hustle and bustle in the streets slowly dies down, he closes the shutters and draws the curtains. It is time to go to sleep. He watches the children as they are put to bed. When they sleep, he brings dreams for them. The nightmares he drives away and shoos them out the window. With a large watering can he moves over the night meadows and puts the dew on it, so that in the morning everything is fresh again. When all is done, he contemplates his reflection in the lake. When dawn extinguishes the stars again, the moon lies down again to sleep.

.

The characters of the story have mytho-logical character. As in the stories of ancient peoples, the world is explained in a magical way. The image of a world is created, which is ordered by benevolent beings in a mysterious way. Thus, it seems to us suitable for young children who are at home in magical thinking.
