Fliegendes Theater: Rumpelstiltskin

Wwho doesn't know this: having to play the flute in front of uncles and aunts, recite poems or play the violin at school celebrations. Some are paraded for the pride of their parents; in some children the longings and need for recognition of the parents are satisfied. In our fairy tale, the miller wants his daughter to become something better. He declares her to be a child prodigy. He is not interested in the fact that his daughter prefers to read horse books. So far, everything is unchanged since the times of the Brothers Grimm. And so that we see and recognize better, the fairy tale pushes the conflict to the extreme: The miller claims before the king, his daughter can spin straw into gold. The king takes him at his word, threatened with death if the miller lied. And already we are in the middle of the fairy tale of "Rumpelstilzchen". In her greatest need, the girl receives help, but the price is high: she has to give up her own child - her liveliness! From this she finally gains the strength to recognize the problem and call it by name.

The fairy tale tells something about the importance of being able to name things, and thus to break free from dependencies. Rudolf Schmid tells, sings and plays with figures on an open stage. He involves the children directly in the play events, and the old story arises new and alive before their eyes. A piece from our time!
