"After the Kiss" - a tragicomic love waver by Oliver Bukowski!

Love does not lose its charm. Not even when the author of "After the Kiss" takes the romantic transfiguration from her and subjects her to a reality check. Because in its beginnings it always contains a longing for a better life, for a new beginning for two, which is supposed to kidnap the couple from their previous life trajectories.

The tragicomic moment in Bukowski's faltering love lies in the fact, however, that although love succeeds again and again in raising hopes for a better life, it exalts itself in social advancement. If it is coupled to such "big dreams", it is overtaxed, it must die itself.

With this twist, Bukowski humorously turns the statement of Shakespeare's original into social criticism: Whereas in Shakespeare the prospect of peace only becomes a social possibility after the death of the lovers, in Bukowski's work the hope of breaking out of the deadlocked social milieu borders also dies with the lovers.

If this piece hadn't been written so lovably funny, it would have been a cry. Thus it is both at the same time: an enchantingly disillusioning play Theater!
